Could this be the clubs best year ever? 🐢👊
As we enter the 2020 High School Season, we want to celebrate the top returning players aiming for a huge impact in 2020.
We are proud of LGH alumn Jack (JJ) McCall and his journey. JJ has always demonstrated the attributes of a Hardshell. Now he is showing his grit at the highest level. You have to check out the story on how JJ pursued his dream of playing Clemson football. Click photo for link.
Congrats to Evan Conway on his commitment to play lacrosse at Navy! Evan grew up in the LGH program. He has been missed since he went down to IMG in 2019 but is a is pumped to still be is go-to stringer. “glad he still likes how I lace them up.”
Oceanside Senior, Cole Sweeney commits to Furman University. The Paladins lucked out snatching the All State defender.
Cole is a perfect example of how the recruiting process can work for someone who stays local and focuses on their game.
Big Congrats to LGH Guidance Director, Jeff Mayer on being named Wando’s Offensive Coordinator. Watch out for the Warriors in 2020. Mayer’s hire makes him the 10th LGH coach who also coaches at a high school program.
Chris Buechele and Jeff Mayer are the newest LGH Coaches to sign on as High School Coaches. Both coaches are program starters. Mayer started the AMHS Program while Buechele spearheaded the interest level to make a Wando Lacrosse team back in 2005.
Lacrosse in SC just keeps improving. The high school division was the most competitive we have seen at the Palmetto Shootout. Other local teams gave us a run for our money, but in the end our Hardshells stayed on top of the state with another championship. With the exception of one, all of these players have grown up in the LGH program. Our coaches for the weekend were Jeff Mayer (Wando offensive coordinator) Palmer Simpson (Porter Gaud Defensive Coordinator.)
Joey Boylston signed with Utah. Kyle Carretta will play for University of Lynchburg. Luke Akers signed with Mars Hill. Cameron Weeks is headed to York College and Owen Ciali inked with Lander.
This is a story about one lacrosse player, his journey from the youth ranks to a top Division I program, and the growth of lacrosse here in the Lowcountry. I hope that it provides insight into the recruiting process and inspires more Lowcountry players to reach for their dream of playing college ball.

Player’s attending Big12 Individual Showcase will be evaluated by members of the NCAA coaching staffs working the event and “players that shine” at the event.
Spend less time in the car, searching for the best. Spend your time on the field or on the wall, trying to BECOME the best.
